Get your FACTS STRAIGHT, please!

     Here is a list of rather disturbing and shocking facts about dating violence. Take a couple of minutes to mull them over. You may find yourself believing that dating violence is a more pressing problem than you'd originally realized.

  1. 1 in 10 teenagers will experience some form of physical violence in their dating relationships.
  2. 95% of all people who are victims in an abusive relationship are women.
  3. Men commit 95% of the dating violence in today's society.
  4. 1 in 3 teens experience peer, family or dating violence.
  5. 1 in 3 females and 1 in 5 males have been sexually abused by the time they're 18 years old.
  6. 1 in 8 high school students experience physical abuse in dating relationships.
  7. Teens are 2.5 times more likely to be victims of a violent crime than people who are age 20 or older.
  8. 40% of female homicide victims were killed by their husbands or boyfriends, and 20% of female homicide victims are between 15 and 24 years of age.

On any given day in the United States of America:

  • 480 women and children are raped.
  • 9,600 women will be assaulted and beaten by their male partner.
  • 6 teens will die as a result of violence.
