A common mistake is to believe that people who talk about killing or hurting themselves will never do it. On the contrary, suicidal people often mention their intentions before they commit suicide. But there are also many not so obvious signs that can show that a person is thinking about ending his/her life. About 80% of those who attempt suicide exhibit some of those signs.

If somebody you know:

- is giving away possessions

- has abrupt changes in personality

- has attempted suicide before

- uses drugs or alcohol

- changes his/her eating patterns

- changes his/her sleeping patterns

- has depression

- talks of wanting to die

- is unusual sad, discouraged and lonely

- is suffering Chronic Pain, Panic or Anxiety

- has family disruptions-divorce, trauma, losing loved one

- is running away from home or school

- is restless

- withdraws from friends ,family and regular activities

it's possible that this person is thinking about suicide and is waiting for YOU to HELP

Also symptoms for suicide are statements like:

"Nobody cares about me."spacer"I want to die."

"It will be over soon."spacer"Nothing matters anymore."

"I won't see you again."spacer"I don't care about anything."

"I won't be a problem for you any longer."

"Life sucks and I want to get out."

"I want to go to sleep and never wake up"

"They'll be sorry when I'm gone."
