Drug Do's and Don'ts
- DON'T take alcohol with drugs. Alcohol is a diuretic ( a substance that encourages water to leave the body), and can speed up dehydration, and it can react with other drugs.
- DON'T mix drugs. Many drugs can interact harmfully with other drugs
- DON'T take more drugs after the first dose.
- DON'T drive after taking drugs.
- DON'T dance for hours without taking a break, whether you feel tired or not.
- DON'T dance without drinking water regularly.
- DO drink water, sports drinks or fruit juice at regular intervals.
- DO eat salted foods if you have been sweating a lot - this will help replace the salt lost through sweat.
- DO take breaks from dancing or clubbing. Make sure the club you go to has a chill-out room.
- DO go with friends, especially if one of you has agreed to stay 'clean.' Friends will watch out for each other.
Some Warning Signs
If you notice any of these symptoms in yourself or in a friend who has taken drugs, call an ambulance. Always tell the paramedic what you think you or your friend has taken.
- Disorientation
- Drowsy or unresponsive
- Convulsions or spasms
- Difficulty breathing
- Feeling abnormally hot to the touch
- Fainting or unconsciousness
