Dear Reader, you have two options you could use, have the baby, or have an abortion. First, though, you’ll have to know all the upsides and the downsides of this topic, its complicated.  People have very strong opinions on this topic, so it’s going to be very hard. So now, you may ask yourself; what exactly is abortion?

What abortion basically does is remove the baby you have in your uterus. You end your pregnancy.

This process can either be natural, surgical or it can be proceed by taking a pill:

• The Spontaneous Abortion: this type of abortion is natural, you don’t choose to do it, and it occurs before the 20^th week of pregnancy.
  
  
• A Surgical Abortion: This abortion is a type of abortion you choose to have (an induced abortion). The most common method (MVA – Manual Vacuum Aspiration) removes the fetus or embryo using a syringe.

There is also another method that is called EVA, and it uses an electric pump.

Finally, there is one other method called D&E, it’s a dilatation and evacuation. The doctors open the cervix of the uterus and they empty the uterus with surgical instruments. This type of abortion is 100% effective

• Medical Abortion a.k.a the pill: This abortion can only be done in the first 9 weeks of pregnancy. The medicine used for this type of abortion is called mifepristone. This  medicine causes the lining of the uterus to thin, and it blocks progesterone. This kind of abortion is 97% effective.
  
  
• Partial Birth Abortion (Intact dilatation and evacuation): This is one type of abortion, I think is the worst of them all, and should be banned - you actually kill the fetus. This is how it works:

1. The abortionist grabs the baby’s legs
2. The baby’s leg is pulled out into the birth canal
3. The abortionist takes out the entire body except for the head
4. The abortionist uses scissors into the baby’s skull, and they enlarge the hole.
5. The scissors are removed and a suction catheter is inserted. The child’s brains are sucked out, causing the skull to collapse. The dead baby is then removed.

Fortunately, this type of abortion is uncommon and only done late in the pregnancy (3rd trimester).

99% of abortions preformed in the US today are surgical.

Now, if you want to have an abortion, these are some methods you could use, but think it hard, you don’t want to regret it. You could also have the baby and put it up for adoption.

Many teens are in the situation you are in: In fact, 20% of women who have had an abortion in the US are teens.

Another question you may ask yourself is when to have the abortion. 88% of abortions in the US occur before the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. That happens for a reason, and you should know about it; a lot of people think that abortion is killing a life, killing a person, kill an innocent human being who deserves to live. Other people think that if you have the abortion before the 12 weeks of pregnancy, the baby is just a fetus, and therefore, you’re not killing the baby itself, but a lot of cells put together. Also, the earlier you have the abortion, the safer it is.

But if the abortion is not done in good conditions (good hygiene by a trained professional) there could be some complications:

• Infection: The fallopian tube is a very fragile organ. There is an infection that involves this organ; it’s called PID (Pelvic inflammatory disease). This disease usually leads to infertility. And it’s difficult to treat it.
  
  
• Excessive bleeding

Now you know the basics of the abortion, and you have information to choose from. Next time, control yourself a little bit before having sex, and you won’t have this complication.

My personal opinion: Many teenagers tend to be caught by their feelings and not think about the future, they’re all for “Carpe Diem.” I think this should stop, you could “live the moment,” but have the consequences of your future in mind. The way I see an abortion is killing a life. I think it’s morally wrong. Of course people who have been raped could have their abortion, because is not their fault. What I think is wrong, is having wild irresponsible teenage sex, and the kill a life. A lot of people who get pregnant don’t understand that they could put their child for adoption or something. I’m almost sure, that if I got pregnant, I would have the baby and then put it on adoption. It’d be hard, but it’s definitely better than killing a life.
