Does Your Mind Control Your Body or Does Your Body Have A Mind of Its Own?

What do you think of when you see the word hair? I think about healthy long hair (personally)..... Many people also think of trying to get their hair longer than it already is. Hair is a science called trichology. Hair can be regarded as a bother or a contribution to a person's beauty. Although there is no scientific proof of something that can make your hair grow faster many companies sell items that claim to help your hair grow faster. The only thing that may influence the length of your hair as far as length goes in genetics. If you exclude pregnancy and different illnesses, your hair will grow at the same rate, which is about a half an inch a month at the maximum.

There some things that may contribute to your hair grow slowing down such as, illness, poor diet, emotional stress, and medication. Regular shampooing and conditioning wit quality products will help maintain healthy hair. Sometimes you may do all this and still find your hair thinning or shedding excessively. The most common reasons for thinning of the hair are much like the reason for slow hair growth. Things such as genetics, stress, poor diet, medications, illness, and Post-partum Alopecia (or in English hereditary male or female balding) are the things that cause thinning. Hair loss affects over 60 million Americans, luckily ladies two thirds of which are men. Since we are teens we don't have too much to worry about now even if you have a genetic link to pattern balding because female pattern hair loss doesn't normally start until you reach the age of 40 or 50.

Now lets talk about the myths about hair! One myth about hair is that if you shampoo your hair too much it will dry your hair out.....WRONG! Shampooing does not dry your hair out, (surprising isn't it) it actually moisturizes your hair. When you wash your hair your hair receives moisture no matter what your ethnic or cultural background is.

You may occasionally come across some shampoos that are not good for the hair and sadly most of those are the shampoos that are most affordable and accessible. So go ahead and splurge on a shampoo that's good for your hair.

Another myth that started circulating is the myth about blow-drying hair. The myth is that the hot air from the hair dryer will dry your hair out.....FALSE! Since your body vents heat through your head its okay to put a little heat up there but don't take it too far and use a curling iron every day because that is definitely not too good for your hair. Some people say that they see smoke coming from their head when doing their hair. This is not your head smoking or your hair; it's the type of oil you put on your hair.

One last myth! People commonly believe that they have dandruff, when most of the time it is just dry scalp. Dandruff is a constant stream of flakes either oily gray or yellow that clumps together in little balls or powdery and fine. People who have dandruff will definitely know and often people who have dandruff get prescriptions from a doctor. My fellow ladies don't get stressed, there is a slim to none chance that those flakes you see in your hair are dandruff flakes so stop worrying about it.
